The Fujifilm Clay Studio2 is not your typical office space. Designed by Koji Aoki, Lin Su, and Atsushi Fujita, this unique office aims to create an environment where employees can immerse themselves in their work while cultivating a sensitivity to the beauty and fragility of the natural world.
Unlike the dynamic offices that prioritize communication, the Clay Studio2 provides a place for people to gather and engage in friendly competition. The designers have used the original landscape of the building to promote a calm state of mind, reminiscent of visiting a temple or shrine.
The use of natural scenery as the backdrop for a garden adds seasonal changes to the space, enriching the experience of working while immersed. The office goes against the trend of modern workplaces and offers a different approach to productivity and creativity.
The Clay Studio2 is made up of unprocessed materials, giving it a raw and natural appearance. The space is designed to be flexible and adaptable, with a 7-meter-long table that allows for quick meetings and collaboration. This layout also ensures social distancing, even without the need for acrylic panels, making it a safe and comfortable working environment.
The design team, including Koji Aoki, Lin Su, and Atsushi Fujita, aimed to create a space where employees can focus on their designs and find inspiration in simplicity. The office is a reflection of Fujifilm's commitment to design management and provides a new base for their product and visual design teams.
The Fujifilm Clay Studio2 was completed in April 2021 in Nishi-Azabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The project started in November 2020 and was a result of extensive research and creative problem-solving. The office has received recognition for its innovative design, winning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category.
The Clay Studio2 is a testament to the power of design to create spaces that inspire and foster creativity. It offers a unique approach to office design, prioritizing immersion and connection with the natural world. With its unprocessed materials and thoughtful layout, it provides a sanctuary for employees to produce their best work.
